Pet Grief & Legacy Support
Compassionate Grief Support for Navigating Pet Loss
Losing a pet is a deeply personal experience, and my mission is to provide you with a supportive space to express your emotions without feeling pressured to find closure or move on. With an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and pet grief and loss training, I have also personally walked through the journey of pet loss multiple times. Grief is not something to be overcome, but something we learn to carry with us. My approach centers on understanding and accepting your feelings with self-compassion, and providing a place for you to share your pet's story.
Continuing Bonds with Your Pet
With pet loss, you can experience many forms of anguish including acute, anticipatory, ambiguous, and disenfranchised grief. Understanding these different forms of grief can help normalize our emotions and find self-compassion.
The kind of bond we have with our pets can also affect how we grieve. Each relationship is unique, and the depth of your connection with your pet plays a significant role in your grieving process. I am here to honour and acknowledge the unique bond you share with your pet. From storytelling and journaling to expressive art, I help you find ways to honour your pet's legacy that are unique to you.
MSc. Applied Positive Psychology, formal Pet Grief & Loss training
1:1 sessions are personalized to your needs with follow-up sessions if required. During our Zoom sessions:
You have space to share your story about your pet, including your memories, the bond you share, and the impact they had on your life.
We explore and normalize the various emotions you are experiencing, such as sadness, anger, guilt, or confusion.
We explore the different types of grief you may be experiencing to help navigate your emotions and self-talk.
We talk about the unique bond you had with your pet and how it influences your grieving process.
I will introduce practical coping strategies tailored to your needs. This may include mindfulness exercises, breathing techniques, or creative expression methods like journaling.
The most important thing to remember is that grief is a journey. There is nothing wrong with you or anything we are trying to 'fix' or 'get over'. Grief is an on-going process.
Post-session I provide:
Downloadable Pet Grief Journal: Research-based tool for documenting your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to reflect on your journey and find comfort in expressing your grief through writing.
List of legacy/memorial tribute ideas for you and your family to honour your pet and their legacy.
Other optional services - such as legacy story kit
To ensure grief support services are a good fit at this point in your journey, I ask that you first fill out the contact form below. We can determine an appointment time and you will be sent an electronic invoice for payment.
Payment is $40 per session as I believe grief support should be widely accessible. 50% of profits goes to one of the two charitable animal organizations I have formally partnered with.
Pet loss is one of the most misunderstood losses in our society. Someone who lives with us 24/7 and who has sat with us in some of our darkest hours with nothing but love and compassion is no longer physically there. Someone who brought out the best in us and made us feel we mattered. Grief does not know boundaries between human and animal loss. Loss is loss.
